Using ATLAS.ti to Manage and Analyze Your Action Research Data

Description

ATLAS.ti is one of the best intuitive and easy-to-learn software, which can help to store, manage and most importantly enable a powerful qualitative data analysis of large data. In addition, ATLAS.ti is really useful for the literature review process, too. This workshop aims to help action researchers and students to use a good software which can facilitate and expediting their qualitative research, and save them hours of research time.

Positionality in Action Research

Description

An underlying and influencing factor on action research is the issue of positionality, i.e., the position a researcher takes to the setting under study. Positionality is a continuum, ranging from being an insider to being an outsider and deserves special attention in action research because the degree to which the researcher position herself as an insider or outsider, to the setting under study will determine how she frames the epistemological, methodological, and ethical issues in the study (Herr & Anderson, 2005). This workshop will further enhance participants’ understanding on where they are in their action research and how their position(s) affect their study. It is hope that the understanding will justify the decision made by the action research throughout their study besides ensuring the validity and reliability of the action research.
